Terms and Conditions Saltvík Horse Riding Tours

Horse Riding from Husavik, Iceland

The following terms and conditions are from Saltvík Horse Rental regarding the horse riding tours:

Liability

All guests should follow the instructions of our staff. We will do everything in our power to make the riding a pleasant and safe experience. Our staff will prepare the horses and tack them up before the ride, and they will assign everybody a horse for the ride.

All guests understand that there is a risk in being around and riding live horses and acknowledge that their participation in this activity is purely voluntary. All guests assume full responsibility for themselves and any other minor children for whom they are parent, guardian or otherwise responsible, for any bodily injury, accident, loss of personal property and expenses thereof as a result of any accident which may occur while they participate in the horseback ride at Saltvík ridingtours.

Arrival time

Please arrive at the stable at Saltvík farm at least 10 minutes prior to departure so everyone can fit themselves a helmet. In case of an unforeseen delay, please give us a call (+354 847 9515) as soon as you know you will be delayed a little, so we know you’re still planning on joining the ride and we can discuss other possibilities in case the delay is too large to make it to the ride.

Weight limit

We kindly ask you to respect the weight limit of 110 kg we have set for the well-being of our horses. While you will probably only ride once 1-1,5 hour with us, our horses will walk those tours (almost) every day for several months in a row. We highly care for them and above all we want to do everything to keep them happy and healthy, which also will give you the best of experiences! We hope you will understand this and not book the ride in case you‘re exceeding this weight limit. Thank you, and we hope you‘ll have a great riding experience with us.

If you have any questions regarding this matter (for example if you're right on, or just under 110 kg), please feel free to either call (+354 847 9515) or email ([email protected]) us.

Riding equipment and safety helmets

Safety helmets are provided for all guests during all our rides. Wearing a safety helmet during the rides is mandatory. We do provide heavy duty raingear if necessary. The guest is responsible for wearing an outfit suitable for riding; warm/windproof outdoor clothing (shorts are not recommended), closed shoes such as hiking boots, sneakers, etc. Sandals, flipflops and high heels are not permitted. Depending on the weather gloves (no mittens!) and/or a thin hat or buff to wear under the helmet over the ears are recommended.

Language

For safety reasons it is required that the riders can understand and speak to our guides. All our guides speak English. Some also speak Icelandic, German or Dutch. Please make sure that at least one person in your party speaks and understands basic English and be ready to translate for the rest of the party if necessary. If you don't speak any English, please contact us before booking to ask if your language could be provided. A translation app on a smartphone is NOT sufficient for adequate communication during the ride. Children will be allowed to ride without a parent or adult caretaker if they speak English or the same language as the guide.

Force major

We reserve the right to change the route of the tours if needed based on conditions of the riding trails, critical weather conditions and other factors that can affect the safety of guests and horses.
