SEPTEMBER STILL BUSY

Though it is noticeable in many respects that summer is slowly coming to an end, we are still welcoming many visitors and whale-enthusiasts on our tours. Mornings have still been busy, so we added an extra departure on our speed boats at 9:30 the past days.

Whereas summer months are awesome for their long days and the midnight sun, we were able to see northern lights several nights the past weeks. Obviously, winter is going to come soon. Whereas summer time can be quite busy, calmness overcomes the town now – definitely something worth to experience.

Also whales have still been around. A minke has been spotted several times the past days, but also a few humpbacks entered the bay to probably fill their bellies just before leaving their feeding grounds behind for the warmer waters of the south. Therefore, we were still able to spot these stunning marine mammals on several tours. Besides that, we expect them to be around at least throughout the season – ‘till the end of October.

If you are curious about observing one of these majestic animals you should definitely arrange enough time for passing by Húsavík.
