A GREAT SURPRISE AFTER DAYS OF STORM
The past days had been really stormy and along with the winds, the first snow of this autumn fell from the sky, covering Húsavík Mountain in a white dress. Also the northern lights have been spectacular during these nights and were a great event to be watched whilst experiencing the stormy weather as it can be like in this time of the year.
Then, during night, the weather changed dramatically: the sea calmed down a lot and a blue sky and a bright shining sun welcomed us yesterday morning. Finally, we were able to sail both our daily departures.
Some of our passengers had been waiting patiently the past days for the weather to change, and it could not have been paid off better: Two humpbacks were welcoming them after a one hour boat ride along the mountains out ‘till Flatey. As one of the individuals was even approaching the boat, everyone got a great look onto the huge marine mammal.

A humpback leaving for a dive close to our oak boat Sylvía.
The humpback's beautiful fluke.
After a few minutes of diving, the humpback surfaced again to take a couple of breaths - still very close.
