STUDENTS JOIN US TO LEARN ABOUT WHALE RESEARCH
This past week, students participating in the University of Iceland's Marine Mammals course joined us to practice their whale research skills.
These students have come from countries all over the world to study in Iceland and participate in this course held annually through the University of Iceland's Húsavík Research Centre. On board our boat Sylvía, I (Charla) taught the students about whale photo-identification, and they praticed taking photographs, and collecting weather condition and sightings data that is used in the research conducted here in the bay.
It was great to have these students on board learning about whale research, and how research and whale-watching can go hand-in-hand!
