EARLY MORNING WHALE WATCHING – A QUIET START TO AN UNFORGETTABLE DAY
There is a special calm to Skjálfandi Bay in the early hours of the day. This summer, Gentle Giants is excited to introduce new early morning departures on our popular GG1 Whale Watching tour aboard our traditional yet environmentally friendly oak boat Sylvía.
For a few selected weeks during the busiest period (July 20th – August 15th), we'll be adding a 06:45 AM departure, giving our guests the chance to experience the peaceful stillness of Skjálfandi Bay before most others are even awake.
As the first whale watching boat out on the bay, you'll enjoy the fresh morning air and the magical, soft light of the early hours – a perfect time to scout the bay for signs of whales. Being first on the water also offers a great opportunity for a quieter and more intimate encounter with the whales before other tours begin.
5 Reasons to Join the 06:45 AM Early Morning Whale Watching Tour from Húsavík
- Early mornings often mean fewer boats on the bay, creating a calmer atmosphere on the water.
- Sea conditions are often calmer in the early hours, making for a more relaxed experience at sea.
- Early departures typically attract smaller groups, giving the tour a quieter, more personal feel.
- The early hours bring soft light and subtle colours across Skjálfandi Bay, creating a calm and atmospheric start to the day.
- An early start means you still have the rest of the day free to explore the many wonders of North Iceland.
Start your day in the most unforgettable way — be the first on the bay and meet the whales before the world wakes up!
