After looking forward to it the past days we finally could start the season today, leaving the harbour this morning at 09:45 for the first time of the year.While the weather had got really good until yesterday evening, it suddenly seemed to get worse again this morning, but only for a wonder.
As I have never been to Húsavík this early in the year, I was really excited about the opportunity to go here already now and start the season for Gentle Giants.I was waiting with bated breath for my journey towards Iceland.
This period is always very exciting for us at Gentle Giants. Finally we get going again! For the whole winter our whale watching boats have hibernated and now the time has come to explore the bay once again, in search for whales.

In ten days our first whale watching tour is scheduled - on the 15th April at 9:45.Earlier today our oak boat Faldur got back into its place by the dock after the annual "beauty treatment" on land, and is now ready for another season to come.
This winter the company expanded its operation and opened a small office in the capital city Reykjavík. Several members of our team, the siblings Stefán, managing director, Sædís, sales director and Árni, are regularly working in the office taking part in sales and marketing as well as many other projects.
The annual lumpfish season has started and fishermen are heading out with their nets. Húsavík harbour is full of action those days even though the whale watching season has not begun yet. The owner of Gentle Giants, Stefán Guðmundsson, comes from a long line of fishermen who have been fishing in Skjálfandi bay for centuries.
