Imagine seeing a 25-40-ton humpback whale breaching out the water. It is an impressive sight which our passengers and crew are privileged to witness regularly. But what makes those giant mammals breach? Scientists have never really known why although many theories have been suggested.
Time flies and now it is only one month to season start. Our first whale watching tour of the year is scheduled on April 1st at 09:45, when our boat Sylvía will leave Húsavík harbour and head out to Skjálfandi Bay in search of the giants of the sea.
Did you know that Gentle Giants has organised several weddings around Skjálfandi Bay? Imagine getting married in beautiful nature, with the chance of romantic midnight sun and whales blowing in the background.

Oak boats need a lot of love and care, and along with the annual beauty treatment, our boat Sylvía has been undergoing some big maintenance during the winter – all to increase the safety and comfort for passengers and crew.
Last week was very busy for our sales team – but also a lot of fun! The annual Icelandair Mid-Atlantic Tradeshow was held in Reykjavík for the 25th time, and Gentle Giants took an active part, both in Húsavík and Reykjavík.
Gentle Giants participated in the annual Mannamót – Natural Iceland Tourism Workshop, which was held at Eagle Air Headquarters in Reykjavík yesterday. GG team Stefán, Hanna Sigga and Halli represented the company and enjoyed it.
A new year has come and we all look forward to the upcoming season. But before leaving last year behind we would like to go over some of the highlights from 2016 at Gentle Giants. All in all, a great season with wonderful whale encounters, a new RIB boat and a fantastic team.

Gentle Giants is proud to have a team which consists of both local and international people. Especially our guides come from all over the world. As our whale watching tours do not run in the winter, many of our guides leave Iceland during that period to for example, meet everyone back home, study, work elsewhere or travel.
