A carcass of a male humpback whale has drifted ashore close to the farm Unaós by Héraðs bay on the east coast of Iceland. Skarphéðinn G. Þórisson at the East-Iceland Institute of Natural History measured the whale together with the farmer at Unaós.

Not all whales migrate away from the cold Icelandic winters. One example of this is Grundarfjörður fjord, on the west coast of Iceland, which has been in the news lately because of big number of whales.
It is weird and it is obvious. A humpback whale was spotted the other day, outside Port Allen in Hawaii. That in itself is not unusual, but the shape of it would make anyone look twice. A local pilot called Gerry Charlebois, found and photographed this odd humpback which seemed like broken on the middle.

For several years we have been offering sea angling tours out on Skjálfandi bay. In those 2-3 hour tours, passengers get a chance to try out their fishing skills as well as catching their own fresh meal out on the rich fishing grounds close to Húsavík harbour.
