Today, the Gentle Giants team took part in Mannamót – Natural Iceland Travel Trade Show in Reykjavík, and once again it proved why Mannamót truly means "a gathering of people". With around a thousand guests in total, the atmosphere was lively from start to finish.
Happy New Year to all our friends around the world. A new year has begun, and we're excited to see what 2026 will bring. Even though the 2025 season only recently came to an end, we're already eager to return to Skjálfandi Bay – curious to find out which whales will visit us, what unforgettable moments we'll experience, which rare visitors might appear, and how many of our "old" whale friends will come back.
Warm holiday greetings from all of us at Gentle Giants.
Christmas is just around the corner, and as the days grow shorter, the spirit of the season shines brighter – on the streets, in our homes, and in our hearts. It is the perfect time to find thoughtful gifts for the special people in our lives.
As the festive season settles over Húsavík, there's a special kind of calm in the air. The town is wrapped in wintery magic, with soft light, crisp air, and a feeling that everything is ready for the holidays.
FAREWELL TO A FANTASTIC 2025 WHALE WATCHING SEASON As November comes to a close, we say goodbye to another memorable and successful whale watching season here in Húsavík. A huge THANK YOU goes out to all of our passengers and partners who joined us in 2025, as well as to our dedicated crew on land and at sea.
From Tails to Tales: Humpbacks of 2025 Each humpback whale carries a unique story on the underside of its flukes (tail)—an individual pattern as distinct as a fingerprint. The video below brings together every fluke and fluke pattern photographed by Jo, one of our head guides and captains, over the course of the season.
Gentle Giants Whale Watching recently donated a drone to Borgarhólsskóli in Húsavík as part of our commitment to supporting the local community and young people. Aerial photos and videos offer a completely new and different perspective of the world and everyday life — a way to see familiar places and moments from above, in a fresh and inspiring way.
Our last week of sailing is starting! Time flies - in only a few days November will be over and therewith, our 2025 whale watching season. Until then, we will continue our daily GG1 Whale Watching departure at 10:15AM.
