We send our warmest holiday greetings to you all!Best regards from the team of Gentle Giants
Our oak boat Faldur, the first vessel in our fleet, celebrates its 50th birthday this year and over twenty years of whale watching. It is a charming boat with a long history and still going strong. We are proud of preserving such traditional oak boats which have been very important throughout history in the maritime culture in Iceland.
Gentle Giants is very proud of its staff which unites both local and international people of all ages and various backgrounds. Most of our crew members return year after year and once re-united, work together with the same aim: striving to give our guests the best experience possible and making every season even better than the last – whilst making memories that will stay with us forever.
As Christmas approaches, Húsavík is becoming more and more colourful by the hour. Everyone is decorating the houses and installs lights in the windows and gardens. The town is lit up in all colours which shine bright and welcoming in the dark of the long nights.
Yet another memorable and successful whale watching season has come to an end today. We'd like to thank all our passengers for having joined our tours throughout the season as well as our crew on land and on the boats for coming from near and far to make the tours possible.
Are you still looking for that really unique Christmas gift? Or is someone's birthday coming up? How about surprising your loved ones with one of our gift cards? We at Gentle Giants offer several gift card options for all occasions – now even with a discount! What could be better than surprising your dear ones with a whale watching tour from Húsavík – the Whale Capital of Iceland.
November is flashing past us and in only a week our whale watching season 2022 is already over. November has overall been great with humpback whale sightings on most tours in great weather. Now it isn't long anymore until also the whales will say goodbye to this wonderful place and their feeding grounds.
The online travel guide Travel Lemming has announced its list of 50 best places to travel in 2023 and we are indeed very proud to see our Húsavík on the 17th place. "17. Húsavík, IcelandVisitors to this Icelandic fishing village spot whales and puffins, then thaw in hot spring pools just south of the Arctic Circle.
November has shown its moody side these days and unfortunately, the weather conditions forced us to cancel our departure both yesterday and today. The forecast however predicts a lot better weather and sea conditions for tomorrow, Saturday the 12th of November and we expect to sail again as scheduled from Húsavík harbour.
It’s already a week ago since November started – time flies! So far our tours this month have been great: several humpback whales were spotted on all our departures – oftentimes near to the boats, sometimes even swimming in pairs.
