Yesterday Gentle Giants participated in the annual Mannamót – Natural Iceland Tourism Workshop, which was held at Eagle Air Headquarters in Reykjavík. CEO & Marketing Manager Stefán and Sales Manager Halli represented the company and were happy with the event.
During the winter months, there is little going on within tourism in Húsavík. GG staff member and journalist Alexia Annisius Askelöf went home to her family in Húsavík for Christmas and used the opportunity to make a travel reportage from our fishing village.
Yet another year has gone by, a year full of exciting moments and successful operation. It is time to focus on new opportunities to come, but before leaving 2015 behind, we would like to bring you back to some of the last season’s highlights.
Gentle Giants is very proud of its staff which consists of both local and international people of all ages with various backgrounds and experiences. Every year we receive many job applications from all over the world.
Christmas is getting closer and our boats Sylvía, Faldur and Aþena have been decorated with Christmas lights. The boats look great and it gives a very nice touch to Húsavík harbour in the darkest time period of the year.
Even though there are no scheduled tours during the winter months, there are still many projects going on within the company, preparing for the next season. In Húsavík, our Fleet Manager Karl Óskar and his team are doing a great job taking care of our boats and facilities.

The major change for next year is the increased value added tax (VAT) on various tourism activities in Iceland, including whale watching, starting from January 1st 2016. All our prices therefore include an 11% VAT.
Today, 31st of October, our whale watching season of 2015 has officially ended. We will start sailing again on the 1st of April 2016. Find more information on our next year's timetable here. Just as earlier this month, the past days continued very successful with passengers getting to see several different whales on our tours in Skjálfandibay.
The whale watching has been continuing very successful. Just today we got to see two humpbacks and two minkes – even better: they were all in the same area. There was no need to wait for a whale to surface again after a dive as one of them was up for breathing all the time.
