The life in Skjalfandi bay can change very fast and no two trips are the same. The minkes are known to be very curious and today they actually were in some of our tours … a minke was spy-hopping next to our boat FALDUR and another one was spotted just about 500 metres from Husavik harbour! Dolphins were also seen in Skjalfandi today …A new whale watching departure has been added to our schedule: 08:45.

After a few days of minkes and dolphins a blue whale was spotted in Skjalfandi Bay this morning!! It is not very common to see the gigantic blue whales in Skjalfandi bay, so clearly an unforgettable experience for our passengers onboard Faldur, seeing the largest animal ever to wander the earth!

This morning we had a couple from Barcelona came for a second tour onboard Faldur and they allowed us to publicate a few of their pics on our web - thank you Macarena and Albert - "moltes grácies - bon viatge amics!"
Macarena onboard Faldur sailing from the HarbourAlbert onboard Faldur aproaching the Harbour of HúsavíkThe humpback before a deep diveA large animal looks small in the big ocean - the spout of a Humpbackcan reach as far as 4m - and therefore it can be spotted with great distance, as it arises higher than the horizon!
